June 2nd

Hello!! Goodness gracious it's so lovely to need to use the blog again! This week we will be meeting in Anna & Zach's backyard. They will leave the side gate open (to the left of the house) so you can just come on back when you arrive. They have a bathroom that can be used right through a door off their patio. As discussed, please be sure to bring your own: -chairs/blankets/whatever you'd like to sit on -food and drinks -utensils/napkins/etc. Also, please make sure that you are staying 6' apart from everyone other than your family members and you don't attend if you or anyone in your family is sick. If you do not feel comfortable yet attending in person, we 100% understand. We will be doing zoom meetings every other week so you'll still have a chance to be involved. I know it's a crazy time right now with so many extra rules and guidelines and safety procedures, but I am SO excited to see you all in person 💚 Lastly! Zach and Anna's ad...

Hi everyone, for the final theme week in January let's try gluten-free.  Gluten is a group of proteins found in certain grains, such as wheat, rye, and barley.   Many foods are naturally gluten-free such as meats 😉 , dairy, fruits, and vegetables.  Foods we think of as whole grains are also usually gluten-free such as quinoa, oats, and brown rice.  Again, I hope you have fun with this one!  We'll be back to our normal rotations in February.  Please post what you'll be bringing to share.

Hi everyone!  Assuming the impending snow doesn't cause a last-minute cancellation, let's continue January's theme by harnessing the lifestyle of early hunters and gatherers.  Also known as Paleo cuisine, let's have our meal have the following focus of ingredients:  Fruits Vegetables Nuts and seeds Lean meats, especially grass-fed animals or wild game Fish, especially those rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, mackerel and albacore tuna Oils from fruits and nuts, such as olive oil or walnut oil As always, please post what you'll be bringing to share!

Hi all--Happy New Year!  Georgeann had a fun idea to inspire community meals in January--trying a new 'diet theme' each week.  So each week you'll be tasked with bringing something that follows the guidelines of the particular diet.  Don't worry--I'll try to keep it pretty easy/straightforward.  We will start pretty easy this week with The Mediterranean Diet. Here is a brief summary:  The Mediterranean diet is a way of eating based on the traditional cuisine of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. While there is no single definition of the Mediterranean diet, it is typically high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, nut and seeds, and olive oil. The main components of the Mediterranean diet include: Daily consumption of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and healthy fats Weekly intake of fish, poultry, beans and eggs Moderate portions of dairy products Limited intake of red meat Other important elements of the Mediterranean diet are shar...
